Which Opel Astra models are available?

The new Opel Astra is currently available in several variants, which differ in terms of body style, trim level and powertrain.

Model variants at a glance:

  • The Opel Astra is available as a classic five-door hatchback and offers a fully digital cockpit with smartphone integration, alongside modern driver assistance systems such as a reversing camera and adaptive cruise control.
  • The Astra Sports Tourer, as an estate version, offers plenty of space and flexibility. Thanks to its luggage compartment volume, it is also ideal for longer journeys.

There is also a separate model overview for the Astra Sports Tourer, where you can find more detailed information.

Trim levels: Both the standard Opel Astra and the Astra Sports Tourer are available in the following trim levels:

  • The Astra Edition offers a solid range of standard equipment and is the entry-level model in the Astra range, providing all the essential comfort and safety features.
  • The Astra GS is the sport-inspired trim level, featuring a Carbon Black roof and additional comfort features.
  • The Opel Astra Ultimate impresses with particularly high-quality equipment and comes with many features such as IntelliLux LED lighting or a head-up display as standard.

And for each of these trim levels, you can choose from the following powertrain options:

  • Petrol hybrid (mild hybrid)

  • Diesel
  • Fully electric (Astra Electric)

Is the Opel Astra a good family car?

Yes – the Opel Astra is a very good family car. It offers plenty of space for children and luggage, comfortable seats for long journeys and a comprehensive range of safety features. Thanks to its spacious interior, clever storage solutions and Isofix mountings for child seats, even longer family trips are no problem.

Typical family benefits of the Opel Astra:

  • Flexible rear seats for pushchairs, shopping or luggage
  • Generous space, with a boot capacity of, for example, 422 litres for the diesel and mild-hybrid models in the five-door version (597 litres in the Astra Sports Tourer). If more space is required, the rear seats can be folded down.
  • Modern safety and driver assistance systems, such as a forward collision warning system with automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning, are included as standard and ensure that the family is fully protected.
  • Everyday comfort thanks to a comfortable seating position, good noise insulation and easy operation

The Opel Astra impresses as a family car thanks to its well-designed interior, high safety standards and flexible versatility – a reliable companion for everyday life, leisure and holidays.

What engines are available for the Opel Astra?

A wide range of engines is available for the Opel Astra:

  • Diesel: 1.5-litre with 130 PS (4.9–5 l/100 km). Well-suited to frequent drivers, the diesel engine impresses with its long range and low fuel consumption.
  • Petrol mild hybrid: 1.2-litre turbo with 48V support (145 hp). The mild hybrid offers a good introduction to electric mobility and combines a reliable petrol engine with an electric drive for shorter journeys.
  • Plug-in hybrid: 1.6-litre petrol engine + electric motor (196 hp). The plug-in hybrid enables electric driving for everyday journeys and benefits from its petrol engine on longer journeys.
  • Electric: 156 hp, 58 kWh battery, up to 454 km WLTP*. The Opel Astra Electric is fully electric.

With a choice of 4 different engines, you can tailor the drive and performance entirely to your needs.

Which engine is the best for the Opel Astra?

The ideal choice of engine depends on your needs. Opel currently offers several engine types, each with its own strengths:

  • Diesel: Particularly suitable for frequent drivers and long journeys. The diesel engine offers a long range and low fuel consumption on the motorway.
  • Petrol/mild hybrid: A good choice for a mix of urban and rural driving. The mild hybrid combines efficiency with low purchase costs and straightforward handling.
  • Plug-in hybrid: Ideal if you can regularly drive short distances in electric mode but want to remain flexible on long journeys. Plug-in hybrids combine electric range for everyday use with full long-distance capability.
  • Electric: The best choice for predominantly urban and commuting use. Quiet, emission-free and with low running costs.

The new Opel Astra therefore offers a sensible powertrain option for every purpose.

What are the advantages of the Opel Astra Electric?

The Opel Astra Electric combines a locally emission-free electric powertrain with a range suitable for everyday use (WLTP*) and modern vehicle technology.

Key advantages:

  • Powerful electric powertrain: instant torque for confident acceleration, particularly in urban and suburban traffic
  • Quiet and comfortable operation: virtually silent driving with no gear changes
  • Low running costs: fewer wear parts and lower maintenance requirements compared to combustion engines
  • Emissions-free driving: ideal for low-emission zones and sustainable mobility
  • State-of-the-art technology: digital Pure Panel, driver assistance systems and modern infotainment (depending on specification)
  • Battery safety: 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty in accordance with Opel’s warranty terms and conditions.
What is the battery performance of the Opel Astra Electric?

The Opel Astra Electric is equipped with a 58 kWh lithium-ion battery. This provides the basis for an electric range suitable for everyday use and short charging times.

Key battery specifications:

  • Battery capacity: 58 kWh
  • WLTP range: 432–454 km for the 5-door model, 422–445 km for the Opel Astra Sports Tourer – depending on equipment and tyres.*
  • Fast charging (DC): up to approx. 100 kW
  • Charging time (DC): approx. 30 minutes from 20% to 80% under optimal conditions
  • AC charging: standard 11 kW on-board charger for charging at home or at public AC charging points

The battery is designed for durability and efficiency and is covered by Opel’s battery warranty. Combined with the efficient electric drivetrain, the Astra Electric is suitable for both daily commuting and longer journeys.
